In a stunning turn of events, Modsquad Front Office issued a Press Release announcing that they’re looking into voiding infielder John Leahy’s contract for the 2009 season.

Leahy is in the second of a three year deal he signed at the beginning of last season.

The Modsquad Front Office is suggesting that Leahy, who recently broke his wrist, was in strict violation of his contract when he decided to enter himself into a ping-pong tournament this weekend.

Leahy shattered his wrist, according to an x-ray obtained by this Modsquad reporter, in multiple different locations.

Leahy underwent an extensive 12-hour surgery to repair the wrist, only to find out that doctors operated on the wrong arm.

“I don’t know where you guys heard that I broke my wrist in a ping pong tournament,” said a frightened Leahy, “I was playing left field in a weekend softball tournament when I crashed into a fence.”

According to multiple eye witnesses, Leahy was advancing rapidly in the ping pong tourney, only to shatter his wrist on a violent “volley return serve”, one of the more dangerous but rewarding shots in ping pong.

“I hit the fence and my arm continued moving forward, and then I heard a crack,” said Leahy. “I thought the chain linked fence would give, but I must have ran into a pole”. (That’s what she said).

Leahy insists that he did nothing to violate the terms of his contract, which strictly prohibits the self-proclaimed, “Ping Pong Aficionado” from entering these tournaments.

Leahy
said he plans to return to action in early August, just in time for the playoffs.

I love ping pong but you can't get too close to the table!
