In last Thursday's rematch with the first place GRP, Modsquad rallied late but costly errors sealed the team's fate.

Modsquad lost 13-8 to GRP, but it may have lost a bigger part of its winning success with injuries to Pete Coletta and Modsquad fan favorite Joel.

According to Medical Reports obtained by the Modsquad team PA, Joel may have torn a hamstring; "As I was running down the first base line, I heard something pop," said Joel.

Coletta exited the game in the first inning after walking a bunch of batters. Coletta is still experiencing some after effects of vertigo.

John Leahy made a triumphant return to the lineup, going 3-4 with a run batted in.

Making his much anticipated Modsquad debut was fan/fan favorite Vince Sampugnaro, who went 2-4 with a RBI.

If Vince decides to join the team next season, he will immediately challenge Chris Iannantuoni for the "Hardest Last Name to Type Award".

In last night's game against Jackson and Lewis, the 'Squad squandered an early lead and couldn't mount a late inning comeback, dropping their season finale 5-2.

Bruce Lin and Chris Lima each had two hits in the loss.

The offense set a Modsquad team record for grounding into eight fielder's choices, killing any attempts at a rally.

6 Response to "Modsquad Stumble Into Playoffs"

  1. Anonymous Said,

Maybe if the team was more patient at the plate and learn to take more pitches and take some walks. The team has some impatient players who swing at bad pitches.Don't take this the wrong way its the truth.

  2. Anonymous Said,

The truth? The truth has yet to fully appear in any of these articles. That James guy or whoever writes these articles has been pretty easy on a lot of us this season. We should all worry about our own play on the field and not worry about micromanaging other people's faults.

  3. Anonymous Said,

you sir speak the whole truth and nothing but the honest truth .there has been nothing but turmoil and dissention and most of all to much finger pointing.Several players worrying about stats others worrying about finger pointing others when the team loses. As and avid follower of the squad and a former player the players are there own worst enemies .Here is a little advice for the squad play as united and not divided meaning you win as a team but lose if divided .Alot less bickering andmore focus .Stop worrying about stats and play the game the way it should be played with heart.

do people still use spell check???

  5. #22 Said,

Dissension on the team? What ball club are you talking about? We seem to be having a ton of fun this season, as usual. We're not burying the league like last year, but we're still getting to play ball.

And to the Anonymous posters, keep to the format of posting your number if you're a player, or your nickname if you're a fan. Thanks!

C'mon boys - save that aggression for the field!

    Latte Anyone?
