Thought to be the favorite for the 2009 Rookie of the Year award, Modsquad outfielder Alfrin Vallejo has decided to hang up his spikes in favor of a nice pair of Doc Martins.
That's right, Vallejo has retired his 100% cotton number 20 jersey for a powder blue tux.
He's changing in his jock strap for some shiny new cuff links.
He's bagging the Mets hat and 32 oz bat for a top hat and cane.

You get the point.
In a recent press release distributed by Vallejo's PR Firm, Vallejo announced that the Mother of All Wedding Websites "The Knot" has decided to feature Vallejo's boyishly good looks in order to hawk a few more magazines.
"The magazine will be in newsstands up until November and I'm buying 30 copies if it," said a giddy Vallejo.
According to accountants held on retainer by the Modsquad Softball blog, that runs Vallejo a pretty hefty bill; $120.

Chump change for a former outfielder turned model.
Vallejo is currently on the 15 Day Disabled List thanks to a bum knee. In his brief stint with the Modsquad softball team this season, Alfrin is batting .333 with two runs batted in and 3 runs scored.

That explains why he wears a garter belt when he bats...
