The "Boys in Purple" traded in their bats, gloves, and spikes for buckets, hoses, and towels yesterday, as the team donated their time to a good cause.

"We've been under a lot of scrutiny this season" said Modsquad infielder Nick Difranza, "With all the steroid allegation, finger pointing, dropped pop ups, Kangaroo fines; it was good for the team to shed that bad boy attitude and show that deep down, we really do care."

Upon further review of each of the Modsquad player's contracts, they are required to perform 20 hours of community service.

The Squad had initially been listed as a "Celebrity Wash Team" to be pitted against many of the higher ranking Modimes Officials.

But when push came to shove, no one was bidding on their services.

"That really upset me" said Catcher/DH/Benchwarmer Kyle Bobek, " I couldn't believe we got demoted to a standard wash and wax team. That's not us, we're better than that".

Instead of washing just two cars, the Squad Squeegeed out over 156 cars in a matter of one hour; putting the Mamaroneck Car Wash and the White Plains Wiper Cleaners out of commission for the day.

There were numerous complaints against the Rinse and Wash teams, stemming from the Dry Team's often documented aversion to water and soap bubbles.

"For those who complained that their car was still dirty in a few spots, I'd like to take this opportunity to let them know that their season tickets have been revoked" said the Squad's leftfielder.

In all, the Modsquad reportadly raised close to $3.2 million dollars in car washing funds, easily beating their goal to raise $2 million dollars in a single day.
