DELFINO PARK, WHITE PLAINS
July 2, 2008

Modsquad infielders set a rare record and the lineup tore through GRP Financial pitching, en route to a 12-0 "whitewashing". The win was the seventh of the season, and an important win. Modsquad rival, Colonial, also won their game last night, defeating JP Morgan by the mercy rule.

Nick Difranza, Alan Brogdon, Frank Vitale, Scott Berns, and Rob Lucas combined to make all 15 defensive outs in the mercy rule shortened game. It was the first time in Modsquad history that a put out was not recorded by an outfielder, as 14 of the 15 outs were ground outs.

Bruce Lin hit his first home run of the season, while Chris Lima and DiFranza each added their second home runs. DiFranza, Lin, and Lima were a combined 8-8 with 3 HRs, 1 triple, 1 Double with 8 runs batted in.

Chris Iannantuoni was 3-3 with two triples and three runs scored, and along with Dias, Lima, and Lin, Iannantuoni was extremely bored in the outfield. Iannantuoni kept pleading with Modsquad pitcher, Pete Coletta, to allow one of the batters to hit a fly ball into the outfield. Iannantuoni's pleas, sadly, fell on deaf ears.

The real story of the evening was the return of fan and teammate favorite, Rob Lucas. Lucas was solid at first base, and made two eye popping grabs at the "other hot corner". Lucas is best remembered for adding a spark to a lifeless Modsquad team last season, crushing softballs and teammate's hands while delivering earth shattering hi-fives.

The Modsquad's next game is next Tuesday, July 8th at 5:45 against JP Morgan.
