Modsquad bats came alive early, scoring fourteen of the team's eighteen runs in the first two innings, en route to another win over Division D Rivals, SAMS/GLM.

Batters were able to capitalize on the opposing team's pitching woes, as the starter was yanked after walking the first three batters. Modsquad bats erupted for five runs in the first and then began to hammer the nails down with a nine run second, sending thirteen batters to the plate.

The 18-10 win over last season's champs was a tale of two teams for the Modsquad: offensive firepower early in the game only to sputter out in the later innings, while defensive gems were seen as often as the onslaught of painful bloopers.

Highlighting the team's offensive roller coaster was the top four in the lineup: After the first three innings, the top four were 6-8 with 2 walks, five RBIs, and ten runs scored. In final three innings, the top four were a combined 1-8.

The team's offensive and defensive miscues late in the game could be a direct result of the fact that the Modsquad players haven't played a full seven inning game in almost a month.

The team saw the return of last season's starting pitcher, Mike Lima, who filled in for Nick Difranza. Lima joined the team late in the season last year, and was a key acquisition that resulted in a Modsquad playoff run.

Fan attendance continued to grow again this week, and two four legged furry fluff-balls were seen routing for the boys in purple. (See this week's photo blog).

In injury related news, Modsquad outfielder/prima donna Chris Lima chipped a nail trying to catch a relay throw, and now only types 13 words per minute. Lima has explained that he will continue to complain about his pinky until Liz Lynch reads the blog.

  1. Anonymous Said,

It wasn't pretty but it was a win. The top of the order really stunk it up towards the end of the game. What's up with that?

  2. Unknown Said,
