Modsquad and company defeated first place rivals Colonial, handing the bruisers their first loss of the season. With a 13-7 win, Modsquad now finds themselves in a very unfamiliar place; first.

In what some consider to be a "from worst to first" Cinderella Story, the Modsquad has continued to build on last season's late run of success, winning seven of their last nine games.

Modsquad took an early 2 run lead in the first inning, but Colonial answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

After being held without a run in the next three innings, Modsquad bats (and plate patience) exploded for 9 runs in the fifth inning. Modsquad scored two more runs in the final two innings, and effectively shut down Colonial bats for the remainder of the game.

In an exclusive email (obtained by this writer) sent to the Modsquad team after the game, manager Alan Brogdon was ecstatic about his team's play:

"That team you just beat was the first place team and they were good. This was a huge win and it sent those (insert creative phrase here) a message that we were not going to go down easy. It was good to see us send them a message after they were talking a smack before the game. Good work, be proud that we played like a true team. "

Bruce Lin collected three hits (Double, 2 RBI) and Scott Berns had a key single in the fifth that drove in two runs. Brodgon, Chris I, and Nick each collected two hits in the win.

Hopefully, there will be a lot more fans there this game. The team could really use the support of our fans, especially after a big win last week. We don't want to have a let down after that game...
