Dear Modsquad Softball Team;
A famous actor once stated that there is, in fact, "no crying in baseball".
I'm writing to add to that quote. I'd like to add the following:
- There is no motivational value from email blasts....in baseball.
- There is no calling out other teammates who are struggling....in baseball.
- There is no questioning another player's desire to win....in baseball.
The idea behind forming a team to join the White Plains Recreation League was to form a bond that may otherwise never exist between such a random assortment of people who I now consider friends.
Consider this for a second; how often do you see a Vice President of any company walk over and give a high five to some kid who sits at the company's IT Support Desk?
How often do you see someone lose their job and then drive 1/2 hour out of his way every week just to spend some quality time playing softball for the very company that let him go?
When was the last time that you heard of a Vice President of any company sitting in an airport with his team's softball jersey on, figuring he'll save time because he won't have to change at the field?
I say lets get rid of the ridiculous attempts at motivation, finger pointing, second guessing and start enjoying the rare bond that we have.
So what, you lose a couple of games that you probably should have won. That's two more games that you got to play than most corporate companies will ever sit in their cubes and dream of playing.
Consider how lucky you all are that you even get a chance to lose a game.
I've never had as much fun playing for a softball team than the one I get to play for tonight.
Lets try not to ruin it.

And let's win!
dear anonymous, did something happen that I dont know about? those are some poignant comments, well taken and a good reminder of why we play (besides the lattes). But arent you assuming that people take the motivational speeches, finger pointing, and second guessing seriously? Maybe some people do but i'd say most observe them with a grain of salt. Or that those attempts are mutually exclusive with enjoying the rare bond/bromance we have or appeciating how lucky we are? its all good.
xxoo
This can't be serious. Why is there no name posted to the letter to the Editor?
