MODSQUAD and company won a wild one, battling through seven innings to defeat Reuters; 24-19.

Lima homered in the first inning and Difranza followed with a two run homer of his own in the second. MODSQUAD bats lifted the team to an early 9-2 lead, which would dissolve over the course of the next couple of innings.

After swapping leads in the fourth and fifth innings, MODSQUAD settled down with key hits from John Leahy, Eric Klein, Kyle Bobek, Todd Dias, and Chris "Big Papi" Iannantuoni in the seventh inning.

With runners on the corners and two outs on the board, a fly ball to deep centerfield landed in the mitt of MODSQUAD's newest proud pappa, Chris Iannantuoni.

In what turned out to be one of the most confusing score books this reporter has seen this season, Todd Dias led all hitters with five runs batted in.

Kristen is making me put this in the blog against my own will: Lima had a nice diving catch late in the game, saving a few runs. I was way out of position and shouldn't have had to dive for the ball. I'm extremely sore and cranky from all that running.

MODSQUAD first baseman Scott Berns arrived by the end of the game, luggage in tow. This reporter heard, from his co-reporter girlfriend, that Berns was stuck in a Cincinnati Airport's basement while a tornado hit the area. Berns, allegedly, was wearing his MODSQUAD uniform at the time.

Pete Sedlmair and John Leahy were late inning defensive replacements, and failed to disappoint. Leahy made two game saving plays at second, while Sedlmair called a fantasic seventh inning behind the plate.

MODSQUAD's next game is June 11th at 7pm against Jackson Lewis.

  1. Anonymous Said,

Nicely done, MODSQUAD-- homeruns and defense, who IS this team anyways.. Maybe Berns was actually stopped by the Cincinatti TSA for wearing his uniform onto the plane.

Kristen is hot with the camera. Great action shots!

Lima is that a police car behind you?

  4. Anonymous Said,

Yep, I'm currently on a work-release program sponsored by the Westchester County Jail. So that was my parole officer watching from left field. Apparently, according to his radar gun, Todd Dias was throwing 9 m.p.h.

    Latte Anyone?
